What is a bland diet? If you are dealing with many health issues, then Bland diet can be the best option for you. Eating this diet can help you in many ways like relieving heartburn, vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea.

This diet can be a more effective way to treat peptic and ulcers. Life can be stressing for you sometimes, but if you have a right diet plan, your body can survive in this stress. You might be thinking I have gone mad, but that’s true the more you have a fit body, the lesser is your stress.

Why is a bland diet important? You can face many health issues when you are not ready to cut off those unhealthy foods. So doing a bland diet can help you in many ways from burning the fats to making your body healthy.

Just for your knowledge, Bland diet is soft in texture and lower in fiber which means they are high in Ph. So if your body produces more acid production, reflux then this diet can solve your problems.

Everybody has its own needs, and when it comes to dieting, you can’t stick to one plan. You have to follow many healthy diet plans to see what suits you the best. Here are my own tried five bland diet foods you must try.

  1. Low-Fat Dairy Foods


I am sure just like me you also have a habit of drinking morning tea and coffee. You can have them with low-fat milk or fat-free milk; it’s your choice. Low-fat dairy foods keep you safe from inflammation and other problems. You can have yogurt and flavored cheese in the morning to start a healthy day.

Low-fat dairy can be best for you when you are on Bland diet. Also, many experts advise eliminating a dairy product from your food to treat ulcers problems. You can try my herb teas which will make you more active.

  1. Vegetables


You can have vegetables when you are on a diet because vegetables contain water that helps your body in hydration. Following are the vegetables which you must try when you are on this diet.

  • Beets
  • Carrots
  • Green beans
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Spinach
  • Pumpkin
  • Green Leaves vegetables

You can try all these vegetables; it doesn’t matter you buy them frozen, fresh or canned. However, don’t eat them raw; cook them in olive oil for better taste. You can also add them in a salad or have them boiled or little cooked.

  1. Low Fiber Fruits


If you are new to dieting, then low fiber fruits can be your first option. Even many experts have approved low fiber fruits for a bland diet. This includes Bananas and melon. You can also try Avocados but to some extent, because they are high in fiber but good for your health.

  1. Processed Grains


You can have white bread, seedless rye and refined product as processed grains. However, some people face problems of indigestion when they eat white food.

To avoid those things you can have one slice of bread rather than having two slices. It’s better to make toast then eating it directly. You can also try below things as processed grains.

  • Plain soda crackers
  • White pasta
  • Cooked cereals like oatmeal
  • Cooked grains without sugar
  1. Lean Protein


Lean protein diet can be the best option for you when you prepare different meals. You can make them in light seasonings like adding a few salt and other spices. Lean protein meals include:

  • Chicken
  • Fish
  • Crab or lobster
  • Eggs
  • Silken tofu

You can add other items to your diet plan which can be used during the snack times. Cream-based soups can also be the best choice for you. On the other hand, different types of Tea and coffee can drink during the Morning.

You can also try Dessert foods like Vanilla pudding; plain cookies but eat them in less quantity because they contain sugar.

In the morning if you have a habit of using some spread on your bread, you can try creamy peanut butter, jelly, and jam without seeds.

Remember not to put any extra seasoning on your diet because it can be irritating for your stomach.

My top 3 bland diet recipes

Making something which is healthy for me, I do it with great interest. So here are my top 3 recipes for you which you can try at home.

  1. Vegetable Soup



  • 1 ½ bowl of carrots, red beans, and spinach
  • One teaspoon salt and pepper
  • Chicken stock your choice


  • Add chicken stock in the pan.
  • Add vegetables in chicken stock.
  • Let them boil for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper for better taste.

If you don’t want to add chicken stock, you can make soup in boiled vegetables by adding water.

  1. Grilled Chicken



  • 1 Boneless chicken
  • One teaspoon salt and pepper
  • Few drops of lemon


  • Take a boneless chicken.
  • Marinate chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Put the chicken on grilled pan.
  • Grill it for 10-15 minutes.
  • Your grilled chicken is ready.

Final Words

This diet doesn’t supply you all the nutrition so you must ask your doctor first if you can try this diet. Also if you are not feeling comfortable, you can try another diet like AIP diet or Keto diet. If you think that you can’t try any of these diets when you are on health treatment, I would suggest you ask your doctor. Your doctor may ask you to change your lifestyle.
